Hubbin and I had a BLAST camping this weekend all by ourselves! 🙂 We took the muttsky and went camping in a spot suggested for us by family. It was a GREAT camping spot. In fact, it is now one of my two favorite camping spots!
Here are some things I learned this weekend:
1) Don’t EVER forget the bug spray! I look like I have the measles or something! And the stupid little bugs tried to eat my baby! I have 14 bites on my belly! What kind of bug bites you on the belly?
2) Don’t be over prepared for the rain…I carried fire wood into the tent so we would have some dry stuff in case of rain…I think I over-reacted a little bit!
3) Don’t be under-prepared for the rain (aka: Batten Down the hatches!)…Hubbin forgot the zip the vent near the bottom of the tent and our pillows got all mud splattered! Good thing it was Sunday when it happened and we didn’t have to sleep on them like that! 🙂
4) I LOVE my Hubbin! We don’t spend near as much time together (by ourselves) as we should. 🙂 We need to start practicing this more now so when Baby Girl comes we still plan it into our schedule every other week or so.
5) Buy the giant marshmallows. If you don’t believe me, do it anyway. I harassed Hubbin about buying them, but they were seriously the BEST marshmallows I have ever had!
We also saw ducks. Both two adult ducks and a Momma Duck with her babies. A hawk, a crane, and a badger! And I heard a rather large animal walking by our campsite Saturday night, but it stayed down by the water so we left it alone and so did the Muttsky, so it worked out. 🙂
Oh yes! We got hailed on while fishing in the middle of beaver ponds! THAT was a fun run for it! NOT! We got half way to the trees and there was a giant Fir tree out on the beaver pond dam, right next to a clump of bushes. I told Hubbin we should just stay there since we weren’t getting that wet, and we would be soaked if we ran for the woods. But he said he would be soaked if we didn’t run for the woods, so we made a run for it (I figured at least then I wouldn’t be taking a chance of falling in a beaver pond while standing there hiding from the hail!). We were both really wet by the time we got there, but I don’t think we were totally soaked! I don’t think I have ever made it out of a beaver pond that quickly before!
Well that about sums up my weekend, what about yours?
After church on Sunday Kirk took me to lunch and then Blackhawk to cheer me up. He is really a great guy. 🙂 He hates Blackhawk, but he went for me.
Those Erickson guys are pretty great…don’t tell them though, we wouldn’t want them thinking they can slack or anything! lol 🙂
I am glad you got to spend quality time with the hubbin, that is always the best. I need to spend more with mine. Where did you go camping?
We went up where Geoff and Patti had been the 5-7th. Up by Big Creek Lakes.
Glad you had fun there. It turned out to be a good spot, which I was really glad for since it was our plan B when Big Creek was locked. By the way I think it’s hilarious that you love the GIANT marshmallows. You did give Joel a lot of crap about those! 🙂
Hey now! I gave him a lot of crap about buying TWO bags of them. I still think I am right since we have only opened one bag so far and out of that one bag we have only eaten three giant marshmallows…
I should get some of those. That way you can say “I only had one” and just leave out the fact that one is the size of 3 or 4! 🙂
So true! 🙂
