Today was rig tour day. It started off with me waiting for our guide to pick me up….for 45 extra minutes! We then proceeded to a conventional rig and watched them run casing in the whole. Then we got a tour of the well service yard, which consisted of walking through their shop area and talking about their wash bay. Apparently the reason thy can’t move is because thy can’t build a wash bay at a new location. Great, I’m happy for you? Why don’t they just tear down the current office part of the building and build new offices and a breakroom and while they are at it add another bay to the shop? It’s not the yard thy have grown out of, its the building. I don’t understand, but I guess it doesn’t matter much, lol, I’m not important anyway. 😉
Then we went to eat at the Doubletree….not my favorite, but not too bad today.
After lunch we went to a work over or well servicing rig where we took pictures as a group and had a great time. We learned what the BOP’s are and got to see them.
Next we went to an ADR rig where almost everything is ran by a joystick inside a building. The only guy on the floor puts pipe dope on the end of the pipes….tough job, eh? That was just ok, because they weren’t doing anything. Alright, they were putting the BOP’s in place, but they weren’t doing anything with the rig. By the time we finally got to the RMOR shop it was almost 4:00! I was supposed to have been leaving then, so I could make it to Estes Park for dinner at 6:00. Needless to say, we were late to dinner.
Oh well, SNOWSHOEING tomorrow for the finale!
