Had an interesting day today…
I was dutifully working out downstairs in my basement when I got a phone call from Dad asking me to pick him up at WCG where he was dropping off Mom’s car. I told him fine, I could do that and took a quick shower. I then proceeded to drive over to WCG, but when I was a block away Dad called and told me I was going to the wrong WCG! Argh! what a start to the day! I had to drive all the way across town to pick him up and take him to his car at the shop.
One of the ladies at work asked what exactly my job was. I answered her honestly and then she proceeded to ask how much I get paid! Who does that? I have only sat down and had a true conversation with her a few times in the year and a half I have been working for The Company. Why would she feel she has the right to ask me that? To be honest, I don’t think she did. She was super-hesitant and didn’t really want to ask based on her body language. I think I did a pretty good job of deflecting her question while getting at the reason for it. What she really wanted to know was, “do I make more than she does?” It was such a weird conversation.
I went with T after work to go buy an antique viewfinder. You know, those red or blue things you put the circle disc in and then pull the lever on the side to move the disc through the pictures. It is so old if has film you feed through it rather than those discs. It was really neat because it came with film showing different places in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. One of them showed Mount Rushmore being built, including a working model that looks nothing like the finished product! It was so neat seeing the pictures in 3D too!
